Welcome!
BIOPAVING is the International Association on the Use of Biomaterials in Pavements. This association was created in 2022 after the 1st International Workshop of the Use of Biomaterials in Pavements, which took place at the University of Granada in Spain. The funding committe was formed by academics from all over the world, including Europe, America and Asia. Our association welcome academics, industry, and any professional working or willing to work on the use of this type of materials in pavements.

AIM
Our aim is to create a COMMUNITY of experts working on the use of biomaterials in pavements to:
-
Share experience in the use of this type of materials to advance scientific knowledge, encourage transfer and application of this knowledge world-wide
-
Understand the limitations and hopes arising from this new way of thinking about the pavement construction technology
-
Be updated about the current state-of-the-art and practice about the use of biomaterials in pavements
BIOPAVING
HISTORY

BIOPAVING was established in 2022 with a clear mission: to create a collaborative, international community dedicated to advancing research and practice in the use of biomaterials for pavements.
Our story began with the first BIOPAVING Workshop, hosted by the University of Granada in Spain. This landmark event brought together researchers, academics, and industry professionals to share pioneering ideas and explore sustainable solutions for the future of pavement engineering.
Building on this momentum, the association’s Steering Group was formed, uniting leading academics from Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, the United States, China, and Belgium. Their collective expertise and guidance continue to shape BIOPAVING’s growth as an inclusive, vibrant network for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
In 2024, BIOPAVING held its second workshop in São Paulo, Brazil, expanding its reach and strengthening its global community. The next workshop is already on the horizon — set to take place in Nantes, France, in 2026 — promising new opportunities to connect, learn, and share the latest developments in this dynamic field.
BIOPAVING proudly welcomes all researchers, practitioners, and students interested in sustainable pavement solutions. To further support emerging professionals, the association has created a Young Members Committee (YMC), ensuring that young voices stay engaged, connected, and informed about ongoing work and opportunities in this area.
Together, we’re building a community that drives innovation and sustainability — paving the way for a greener future.
